What is this RSS thing you speak of?!
RSS is basically a way for you to be notified that a website has updated their content without having to physically go to the site to check for yourself. In other words it saves you a whopping 5 seconds of your life! These seconds do add up, so don’t scoff!
You recieve these notifications through a feed reader or through email.
All you have to do is firstly download a feed reader. I use FeedDemon . It’s easy to set up.
Once you have that installed, run it. If your firewall asks to let it connect, allow it. You will most likely have to sign up to get a free a painless NewsGator account. Do so.
Once you have your account set up, Open up FeedDemon. Go to the Skitsoid.com main page and click the orange icon by the RSS link. This will take you to a webpage. In the dropdown box to the right, click FeedDemon, then click the View Feed XML link below the box. You will then be taken to another page. From that page, there is another dropdown box in which you have to select FeedDemon again, then click the Subscribe Now button.
A window will open up in your FeedDemon program. Click Next in the bottom of the box, then name your feed (Probably “Skitsoid” for simplicity’s sake). Click Next then Finish. Tadaaaa, now in the left side of FeedDemon under the Subscriptions folder, you will see the name of your feed. Right click the name and shoose to update the feed. There you have it!
Almost every site nowadays has RSS feeds. Don’t stop with Skitsoid! Add all of your favorite sites to the list. When you open up FeedDemon, just click the orange arrows in the upper left on the control panel and that will auto update ALL of your feeds.
